St. Joseph Island

St. Joseph Island is a world unto itself located 45 minutes east of Sault Ste. Marie. The island is situated in Lake Huron, near the mouth of the St. Mary’s River which connects Lake Huron with Lake Superior. St. Joseph Island is a great place for a driving tour, and is renowned for its maple syrup.

Circling St. Joseph Island is Highway 548, providing visitors with scenic views of the St. Marys River, this 72 kilometre (45 mile) highway includes many scenic views, two villages (Hilton Beach and Richards Landing), Fort St. Joseph and is quite easy to follow.
